The Pompeian olive oil brand leads EVOO sales in the United States
In 2021 they amounted to 60.66 million, while in the first half of this year they have already reached 50,000 tons. The Dcoop packaging project (Pompeian and Mercaoleo) represents more than 100 million liters of olive oil marketed per year.
Dcoop continues to consolidate its leadership in extra virgin olive oil in the United States, under the Pompeian brand, with a market share of 23.5% – which is more than the next three brands – according to Nielsen data as of June 2022. Pompeian leads sales in most geographic areas of the country.
Likewise, it should be noted that Dcoop exported a third of the total Andalusian olive oil during the first half of 2022. According to the data collected by the Andalusian Public Company for Foreign Promotion, Extenda, collected by various media these days, Andalusia exported by value of 329 million euros and the Dcoop Group did it for 105.97 million.
It should be remembered that when Dcoop began exporting oil to the United States, it did so for 300 tons and now its average has multiplied by more than 160, reaching an average of 48,000t in the last five years; In 2017, 29.64 million kilos/liters of olive oil were exported and in 2021 they amounted to 60.66 million, while in the first half of this year they have already reached 50,000 tons.
For the second-tier cooperative, the United States is a fundamental market, since it is one of the fastest growing countries in terms of olive oil consumption. In addition, this represents an added value for the small farmer, who sees how the fruit of his work reaches other markets, something that would be very difficult if he did it alone.
On the other hand, a large part of the olive oil sold in the United States is bottled in the Dcoop plants in Andalusia. The Dcoop (Pompeian and Mercaoleo) packaging project represents more than 100 million liters of olive oil sold per year.
