The Monocultivar Olive Oil Competition is a specialized contest that exclusively judges olive oils made from a single olive variety. This focus distinguishes it from other competitions that also evaluate blends. The annual competition, which takes place in Italy, is considered one of the most important for producers of single-varietal oils. A panel of experienced judges, led by Gino Celletti, conducts blind tastings to assess the quality, flavor, and aroma of each sample. Winning a “Best Monocultivar” award is highly valued by producers as it showcases the unique characteristics of their specific olive cultivar.
