First Light Farms Wagyu

Incredible, healthy, and unique grass-finished Wagyu beef. Some people don’t like 100% grass-fed beef because it tends to be leaner. Well First Light Farms, a collective of 85 New Zealand family farmers, produces 100% grass-fed Wagyu beef and pasture-raised venison that is marbled, delicious, and better for you. Their meat is—no joke—a beef lovers dream come true, and they’ve just released a Slow Cook Sundays box. Just in time for the holidays, First Light Farms’ seasonal box will include six of the most tender, juicy, and succulent cuts of premium Wagyu beef and venison, each with its own slow cook recipe. Use code Max for $20 off a purchase of $100 or more from this link! This exclusive offer is only available for my subscribers. Seriously—they aren’t doing any other Black Friday offers!

AG1 by Athletic Greens

My favorite all-in-one greens powder and multivitamin. Want a little extra nutritional insurance? Consider taking a multivitamin. But with so many multivitamins on the market, how do you know which one is worth taking? Personally, I like multivitamins that contain the most natural and bioavailable forms of each vitamin. For example, vitamin D3 instead of D2. And methylfolate instead of folic acid. One of my absolute favorite multivitamins is also my favorite greens powder. It’s called AG1 by Athletic Greens and is a 2-in-1 product. You get a multivitamin/multimineral along with a slew of powerful, bioactive plant compounds. If you use this link, you can not only try it but you’ll get a free year’s supply of vitamin D and 5 free travel packs of AG1.

BON CHARGE

My favorite blue-light blocking night glasses for better sleep. I do everything I can to support and protect my sleep, and the different types of artificial light we’re exposed to all day have a significant impact on our natural circadian rhythms. Poor sleep is linked to a lack of productivity and focus, cardiovascular disease, obesity, psychological dysfunction, and so much more. That’s why I wear BON CHARGE Blue Light Glasses most nights in the hour or two before bed. They are science-backed to optimize sleep, well-being, and recovery and come in prescription, non-prescription, and reading options. BON CHARGE also has some other great gift options for a healthy holiday, like eye masks, cold therapy devices, and red light therapy devices. Right now, BON CHARGE is having its biggest Black Friday sale ever with 25% off sitewide! The discount is automatically applied when you click here.

LivOn Labs Liposomal Vitamin C

My favorite way to increase my vitamin C levels. Liposomal encapsulation technology radically improves the bioavailability (meaning, how much your body can absorb) of water-soluble compounds. Well, LivOn Labs, true pioneers of this technology, is offering buy one, get one free for their liposomal vitamin C. You know I love the science of liposomal supplements but what I love even more is that LivOn Labs were the OGs in the space. So when I want to up my vitamin C, I eat more fruits and veggies that contain vitamin C but I also squeeze a packet of LivOn Labs into my mouth, chase it with a sip of water, and know that I’m supporting my body’s collagen synthesis, immune function, lipids, and so much more. PaleoValley

My favorite 100% grass-fed meat snacks. Do you remember when Oprah used to do Oprah’s Favorite Things on her talk show? You know when she casually said… ”You get a car. You get a car. You get a car.” Well, my version of that, if I could play Oprah, would be “you get a PaleoValley meatstick. You get a PaleoValley meatstick.” It doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as nicely but I’d take a PaleoValley meatstick over a car any day. PaleoValley’s 100% Grass Fed Beef Sticks are the only beef sticks in the USA made from 100% grass fed/grass finished beef and organic spices that are naturally fermented. And truth be told it’s one of my favorite snacks. Right now, you can get 30% off subscriptions for life or 20% off your one-time order at PaleoValley by clicking here.

The TOP foods to lose weight and fight disease

I wanted to ask a health expert which foods we should be prioritizing to lose weight, support gut health, and fight disease. To that end, I invited Jeffrey Bland, PhD, onto the show. Dr. Bland is considered by many to be the “father” of functional medicine, a medical subspecialty which takes a systems biology approach in an effort to treat the root cause of chronic disease—whether we are talking about type 2 diabetes, obesity, dementia, or others. Listen to his surprising answer by clicking here.

Extra-virgin olive oil enhances blood-brain barrier function

You surely know my stance on extra-virgin olive oil by now. In a nutshell, I’m a fan—and this new study further cements my position. In the study, patients with mild cognitive impairment were randomized to receive either extra light olive oil (which contains none of the valuable polyphenols of extra-virgin olive oil), or extra-virgin olive oil. They were instructed to consume 2 tablespoons per day. At the end of 6 months, both groups saw an improvement in function on a certain cognitive test, but only the EVOO group saw a reduction in Alzheimer’s related biomarkers as well as reduced blood-brain barrier permeability. The study was small and had some notable limitations—for example, no control group—but nonetheless, quite interesting in light of other data. Read the study here.

Insulin resistance linked to twofold depression risk

New observational research suggests that you’re insulin resistant, your risk of developing major depressive disorder is double that of someone who’s not insulin resistant. Today, at least 1 in 3 of us is walking around with insulin resistance—often without knowing it. Though correlational in nature, this study suggests that the mental health may suffer in the context of metabolic illness, a starkly common affliction. I’ve done a number of podcasts recently on how to reverse insulin resistance, which you can find by clicking here. You can read the study press release here.

How to supercharge your mitochondria for more energy

A few years ago scientists discovered a surprising reason why eating pomegranate makes us feel so great: gut bacteria convert pomegranate polyphenols to a longevity-promoting metabolite called urolithin A. In clinical trials, this compound has been found to boost muscle strength compared to placebo. My partners Timeline Nutrition have gone and purified and standardized urolithin A so that you can reap the full benefits of this compound. To try their urolithin A—which they call Mitopure—click here. By using this link and code ‘MAX’ you’ll get 10% off your order to try urolithin A. Enjoy!

Choline may be a cognitive enhancer

In a new randomized controlled trial of 100 older subjects published last year, 500 mg daily supplementation of choline for 12 weeks caused significant improvements in memory and cognitive performance. Choline, found principally in animal foods like beef (especially liver) and egg yolks, may be a cognitive enhancer. Read the study here.
